Valentines Day!

We had a contest with the Valentines Day mailboxes. Everyone made the best box they could come up with -- we then voted who had the best Valentines Day themed box, Most Creative box, and Funniest box. Here are some of the canidates!

Grinch Day

Grinch Day! Welcome sign

I moved all of the clips on the management chart to a bad color... (That seems like something the Grinch would do!)
Mr. Grinch wrote us a letter!
Grinch Glyph....Mr. Grinch was not flattered.

He trashed the room with crate paper and threw tissue paper all over the desks.
He even turned our Monkey Elf green too!! ( the real brown one will make his appearance on Monday )

Nouns

We are learning about nouns in class. As an activity I let each child in the class take a post it and they labeled a "noun" in the classroom. They loved this activity and it got them up and moving around--which they loved!

The Class Character Pumpkin!

All of 1st grade made a class pumpkin inspired by a character from a children's book. My class chose the book Cinderella and we made the carriage she rode to the ball in. Finishing touches: a horse, a coach to steer the carriage, and of course Cinderella!

My Top Language Arts Work Stations

Here is my top language arts work station today. Taryn and Zach did a wonderful job working together! They came up with their own sentences to edit, correct, and punctuate. In this station, my students use sentence strips to write on, a multicolored pocket chart, and jewels / pipe cleaners for "end marks."  This is a wonderful catch all station that I am going to use throughout the year. I can just add material as I teach the standard in my focus lessons.

Graphing

Graphing: Today in class we used gummy bears to sort, represent bar graphs, and picture graphs. The kids loved it! My kinesthetic learners loved this assignment. It seemed to spark interest and I got more willing participation out of them than I have had all year.  It was also a great motivational tool to complete their work so they could eat the manipulatives! Ha!

Back to school goodies!

I love Creative Teaching Press! They have so many cute materials and ideas that can be used in the classroom. Here are some things I purchased over the summer online. (Dots on Turquoise) my classroom theme.

My Classroom!

If you're like me---you are probably stalking this page looking for new hints, tips, and ideas. For starters, you can't teach unless you have a fabulous, cute, ridiculous room that you can brag about. Here is mine- beg, borrow and steal at your convenience! Let me know what you think! --any suggestions?!
My poetry station... this picture shows a beginning of the year Word Wall

Love my Buddy Reading area!

 Leveled Library
 My Calendar
The Writing Process bulletin board... I forgot which blog / TpT I got the writing tips and cute people... I will do my research and cite my findings! If you know..feel free to comment!

 Objectives! Another great TpT find!
My WONDERFUL Auntie made these for me! I display the sleeves of the books / author studies we are reading for the week.

The luxuries of having limited bulletin board space. Butcher paper and some boarder makes it look presentable.
